Shoei is my favorite helmet brand and personally, I believe that no other brand can offer the “Shoei Fit,” which I find remarkably great in the GT-Air helmet. One thing only Shoei users know is that this brand has developed a helmet with a better fit compared to other motorcycle helmets that are available on the market. That’s why it’s so easy to put on and take off. In fact, it is quite easy to select a helmet with the perfect fit among the Shoei helmet models. And the Shoei GT-Air is the best example of what we are talking about. Also, the padding and interior liner are also top-of-the-line. The fabric that Shoei uses in these helmets is ‘REMARKABLE’. I mean, you just know if it’s Shoei fabric or not. There’s still a lot that you need to know about this helmet. This is a versatile helmet that provides the ultimate protection and a very high comfort level.
The Shoei GT-Air is highly recognized for its outstanding ventilation system, which puts it in the category of premium helmets that are not cheap. After all, Shoei’s level of fit, finish, and comfort is very rare to see in other helmet brands. And these small details add to its cost. But, don’t worry. Because, once you go through the Shoei GT-Air Helmet Review, you will see that every single thing that Shoei has included in the GT-Air is functional, which overall, makes it a helmet that will put a wonderful smile on your face and the joy of experiencing the most comfortable motorcycle ride you could ever have. Shell Design & Aerodynamic Stability
If we talk about the shell design, then the Shoei GT-Air comes in 3 different shell sizes that are all D.O.T approved. The shell construction is a composition of fiberglass and organic fibers technology that Shoei calls the Multi-Ply Matric AIM Shell, which is a five-ply matrix for extra strength and an ultra-lightweight shell structure. This design accommodates the internal sun visor in the Shoei GT-Air without any compromise in the thickness of the EPS liner. The Multi-Piece EPS Liner ensures the movement of cool air through the tunnels in the EPS liner. These multi-piece EPS liners are varying densities of foam for enhanced impact absorption during a crash. The GT-Air is a wind-tunnel tested full-face helmet that is aerodynamically stable with a shell that mitigates buffeting and wind noise. Plus, the feature of a molded air spoiler reduces the problem of drag and lift as well as the pressure on the neck while riding at high-speed.
Face Shield, Sun Shield, and Visibility
The internal sun visor and the face shield are more features that make the GT-Air an excellent choice. First, let’s talk about the QSV-1 Internal Sun Visor. According to Shoei, this latest visor system “exceeds ANSI Z80.3-2010 standards for non-prescription eyewear.” It provides a large field of vision along with anti-scratch and anti-fog system functionality. You will get a distortion-free view that also blocks 99% of the sun’s UV rays. The operation of the internal sun visor is very effective. A single slider via friction allows the sun visor to be set in any position you want. So, within seconds you can get relief from the sun’s glare in one quick motion. Not just that, the CNS-1 Face shield is the latest in Shoei’s face shield design, which provides 99% protection from the sun’s UV rays and is equipped with the Pinlock EVO fog-resistant system. This is a three-dimensionally curved face shield that is both wider and taller than the CX-1V it replaced. Like other premium helmets, Shoei’s GT-Air helmet has a QR-N Base Plate System, which is a spring-loaded technology ensuring a tight waterproof and wind seal. Also, changing shields is very smooth and easy.
Ventilation System
The Shoei GT-Air helmet has a very effective ventilation system which looks pretty straightforward but works very well. After all, it is tested for ventilation performance and to maintain a balance between ventilation and noise levels. It has a strategically placed three-position upper vent for optimal air intake and directs the air through the two holes in the EPS liner to the rider’s head. It is a functional vent slider that allows you to control air intake even with gloves on. And 3 rear exhaust vents draw hot air from the helmet. Similarly, there is a single large chin vent that intakes a large volume of air and allows it to pass across the top of the chin bar to the face. This lower intake vent is also known as a defroster vent that reduces shield fogging. So, overall, the GT Air ventilation system is outstanding with excellent work done by Shoei on the upper air intake vent, as well as a first-rate performance by the lower chin vent.
Interior
The Shoei GT-Air features the 3D Max-Dry Interior System, which is fully removable, washable, replaceable, and adjustable. The Max-Dry liner material will absorb moisture and sweat two times faster than the normal nylon interiors. Moreover, the Multi-Layer Cheek Pads will provide better fit options and helmet stabilization. You can remove these cheek pads and wash them as needed.
Paint & Design
One thing that most motorcyclists often repeat is, “compare the Shoei helmets with other brands.” Well, I will say it again that you can’t compare ‘Shoei’ helmets with other inexpensive helmets. There’s a reason why Shoei is tops in the first-class helmet brands. For instance, the Shoei GT-Air comes with a wide variety of graphics and solid colors, which all have an excellent finish and quality.
Stating the obvious, but when you are checking Shoei helmets, it is a given that all of those small details will be available.

The Shoei GT-Air is extremely comfortable and safe. The helmet is the ultimate in versatility. Excellent ventilation with a fully adjustable ventilation system is definitely a major plus point. It also consists of the fog-free Pinlock CNS-1 face shield that serves as a key feature of this helmet to keep all that fog away. The helmet is lightweight as well, putting a minimal burden on your head. The luxurious liner of the GT-Air is quiet, comfortable, and can be removed to be washed. The completely removable interior as a whole is another plus point. The fit is of a high level as well.
The visual appeal of the Shoei GT-Air is impressive as well, especially the “Shine Red” color. The sun shield is far away from your face, so if you like wearing sunglasses while having your helmet on, it is easy to do so with this helmet. Shoei rarely disappoints with their helmets, and this one is a masterpiece. The Shoei GT-Air not only meets but exceeds all of our expectations and is definitely a near-perfect helmet. The helmet is represented by riders who want their helmets to be light, comfortable, well ventilated, safe, and thus, allowing them to enjoy the ride.
