Shell Design & Ventilation System
The Bell Qualifier DLX helmet has a lightweight polycarbonate shell that is very durable and can absorb a heavy impact in a crash. And its aerodynamic profile resists lift and buffeting. Bell provides 3 different shell sizes in the Qualifier DLX helmet. When talking about the ventilation system, the Bell Qualifier DLX helmet is excellent. You can adjust the ventilation system for cooling and comfort as per your requirement.
Two top vents allow air directly inside the helmet, which you can channel by opening and closing these two vents independently. The lower chin vents also bring a lot of air into the helmet through two vertical ports in the chin bar. These lower vents are quite a bit better than the lower vents in some of the other helmets. On top of that, you can control the airflow through these chin vents. These controllable vents will help you to reduce the noise level. Once you decrease the air intake by closing the lower vents, you can reduce a lot of noise around the bottom.
Transitions Adaptive Shield
The most impressive thing about the Bell Qualifier DLX is its visor. I guess it is the reason a lot of us have bought the Bell Qualifier DLX helmet. The Transitions Adaptive visor technology that is integrated into the Bell Qualifier DLX is licensed from Transitions – a reputed company that manufactures many of the reactalite lenses for eyeglasses.
What I like most is when you are riding on a hot, sunny day the transitions visor will not take very long to get darker and when you are riding at night the visor is totally clear.
It is very rare for a helmet in this price range to include the Transitions photochromatic face shield, but the Bell Qualifier DLX does. So, if you are riding in hot weather and trying to avoid the direct sun, then the Qualifier DLX helmet will help you to block the direct sunlight and protect you from harmful UV rays. However, the transitions adaptive shields have their pros and cons. One thing I hate most in transitions visor is that “when the face shield gets dark in the presence of UV light, it takes quite a while to revert back.”
Nevertheless, it is a very unique and important feature for professional motorcyclists who ride their motorbikes regularly. Bell’s “ClickRelease” system for the face shield is the fastest and easiest compared to other helmets. Visibility is also very good in the Qualifier DLX helmet.
Bluetooth & Speaker Facility
The Transitions Adaptive Shield is not the only unique attribute of the Bell Qualifier DLX helmet. It has intercom and stereo headset capability. You can plug in the Bell Sena SMH10 and Cardo Scala Rider Q1/Q3 Bluetooth stereo headset and intercom in this helmet. Plus, dual intake vents in the chin bar are located on either side of the center, which provides a suitable location to put the wired microphone directly in the center of the chin bar.
Interior
The Bell Qualifier features contoured cheek pads. It has a washable and removable interior that you can clean anytime. The moisture-wicking interior will keep you comfortable during your long journey. On top of that, the padded wind collar reduces wind and road noise.
Noise Level
Now that you are already aware of the airflow level in Bell Qualifier DLX helmet, it is important to take a look at the noise level too. With this many vents, it is impossible not to have any noise level.
According to many users, the Bell Qualifier DLX is a little bit noisy. One thing that was common in most of the complaints of users is that inside comfort padding isn’t thick enough to block the noise. With the quality of the padding and vent holes, it is obvious to say that noise could be an issue with the Bell Qualifier DLX helmet.
Because if there are too many vents for intake, it is obvious there will be an easy path for external noise that could seriously irritate the rider. But I would also like to say, ‘the Bell Qualifier DLX is not the noisiest helmet available on the market’.
