Protection & Aerodynamic Stability

Safety issues really matter when you are motorcycling on the road. But when riding goes to the next level, then you need something extra. Keeping that in mind, Bell used the technology of the Tri-Matrix Composite Shell in the Bell Star helmet. This is a proprietary mix of carbon fiber, Aramid, and fiberglass to provide extra strength at an affordable price. And to keep it lightweight, they used woven synthetic fibers. These race-proven synthetics are very durable, which provides extra durability and tremendous protection for the rider. So, whether you are racing or just riding on the road, you can protect your head during a crash. It comes in 5 shell sizes and they all exceed DOT, ECE 22.05, and Snell M2015 safety standards. An ultralight shell is not the only improvement in the Bell Star helmet. Its aerodynamic profile is very stable, which resists buffeting and lift at high speeds.

Eye Port & Visibility

The Bell Star features the new Panavision viewport to provide additional visibility to the rider both vertically and horizontally. This newly designed viewport is much better than the old traditional viewports and provides an improved ability for the rider to see obstacles on the road and make safe lane changes without any visibility problem.

Face Shield & Visor

The face shield is also quite a bit better in the Bell Star helmet compared to other helmet brands in this price range. It has an anti-fog system and a friction lock under the center lift tab that makes it easy to secure the face shield even with gloves on.

Ventilation System & Airflow

There are three ways for air to enter the Bell Star helmet – Chin Vent, Brow Vent and Top Vent.

The chin vent is very efficient and centrally located under the face shield. It is very easy to operate even when wearing gloves. Once the chin vent is open, the air flows through four horizontal slots into a large plenum. Plus, inside the chin bar, there are two large vent channels fully covered with a removable vinyl plug. This will help you in different ways. If you leave in the vinyl plug, as you might do during the winter, the air will pass through the chin vent towards the top to the back of the face shield for instant defogging. And if you remove the plug, as you would do for the summer season, the air will flow directly through to the chin bar.

A brow vent is very rare to see in full-face helmets of this price range. But, most of the Bell helmets have a brow vent, including the Bell Star. This vent helps the air to flow around the liner. However, it is not as efficient as the chin vent.

The top vent has generally created noise issues in the helmet. But you will be surprised after seeing that the Bell Star has narrow top vents, yet they provide a good amount of airflow to the head area. Plus, there are fewer noise issues.

Well, I think the top vent is outstanding. All of the credit goes to the removable liner, which comes in handy in situations when you need to block airflow.

Interior & Comfort Level

The interior is another feature of the Bell Star Helmet that puts it in the category of elite helmets because Bell used the latest X-Static Liner and Padding in the Bell Star Helmet, which is much better than the previous versions of Bell Star helmets. It is said that the X-Static fabric is clinically proven to provide bacteria and odor protection throughout the life of the liner. This fabric has a silver layer that contains powerful antimicrobial properties by creating an ionic shield that permanently inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi. This fabric is very flexible and comfortable. On the other hand, the Magefusion Magnetic Cheek Pads are another key feature that can be used to remove the cheek pads in case of an emergency. The removal of the pads is very fast and easy and can be done without cutting any material.
